Feet Friday

I have seen this image so many times in literature, on the internet, and more, but it has always, always, always taken my breath away with it's beauty.
I was thinking about my "feet friday" contribution today, and I thought of Liam's ultrasound picture of his feet, but it's not scanned into any computer. I will have to do that sometime and put it up on a friday in the future. That reminded me of this picture, and I knew I could find it in google images.

Liam's Halloween Costume

Here it is in it's completion....Liam's fisherman outfit. As you can see in the second photo, I ended up adding fishies to the overalls and hat. It made the idea of "fisherman" more apparent. He had alot of fun this year.....didn't want to come home! Got a raging sugar-high as well. He also really enjoyed getting to give out candy back at Grandma's house. It was a fun night, but I am quite tired now.

visit with GGPA

We finally made it up to my grandpa's house a few weeks back. I think I may have mentioned it in an earlier post, but I finally remembered to get the pictures out of my inbox! Here are the best ones:

Liam, David and GGPA

David and GGPA getting to know one another

In case I didn't write about this visit earlier, this was the first time my grandpa got to meet David. It was a sweet visit and I hope to get back soon, especially because my grandma was out of town and still has yet to meet my little guy.

one of "those" days

Today could not have been more of an "urgh" day if it tried. The boys were both aggravating, Liam would NOT listen, and David kept being fussy and sleeping at weird times, not to mention that I changed his clothes at least half a dozen times because he was an eliminating machine today. My goodness, it was nice to put the boys to bed tonight.
Plus, I was moody, tired and just blah. Doesn't help lift the mood.

And tomorrow's halloween. I never did much for it as a child. I would like to continue that trend, but Jon likes to take Liam trick or treating, so it's something I have to prepare for now. But, in typical fashion, I did alot of thinking and very little actual preparation....until today.
Trying to get together a cute, warm, functional costume in a day is torture. But, manage it I did. Which is saying alot, because as of 7pm, I was still fighting with the thing.

Liam is going to be a fisherman. Jon had an old set of rubber overalls from work that needed disposing of. They were what gave me the idea for "fisherman". So, I cut apart and resewed the overalls to fit Liam.
I very nearly gave up, because as I said before, at 7pm I was still fighting with it. Particularly the inseam. Inseams suck. But, it's done. Not perfect, but done. Tomorrow I will make a fishing pole and borrow the fishies off David's swing and pull together a few more finishing touches. I will post a picture of Liam in the finished costume, for now, here's a couple of the overalls:

Our Home (a Liam special)

Ever since I saw Tinks post with the photos of her house, I've wanted to make a post of my own. And just yesterday, while I was showering, Liam granted me my wish (and made my life easier, as I don't have to take the pictures.....although I might have taken different ones, LOL). Here is our home, thanks to my mini-photographer:

Bathroom (he actually was trying to take a picture of me in the shower, but I hid. No naked mommy pictures here)

Living room, looking towards the front door

My computer...(notice the monkey, front and center.)

More living room, specifically the mini-trampoline

David's floor mat toy

on a side note...I don't know WHAT blogger is doing with its photo uploading, but this is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the order I uploaded these pictures in. Urgh! I am in no mood to fight with the html to fix it tonight.

all my boys

Shhh, I am so cheating here, because Jon doesn't like his picture posted on the internet. But, I couldn't resist, this picture just HAD to be shared!

Reincarnation of Cloth Diapers

So, I couldn't, I just COULD NOT do the cloth diaper thing. I tried, honestly I did. To no avail. I have accepted defeat in this area of my life.
So, this post is dedicated to all the other things I use my clothies for.

Burp clothes. They work excellent for this, as they are so thick and absorbent:

Cushion/pad for the diaper changing station (cuz the plastic pad is oh so cold nowadays, especially at night)

Dusting cloth. The texture just traps all that yucky dust!
Uses I didn't get pictures for:
*Lap cloth for feeding David (that rice cereal gets EVERYWHERE!)
*Cover-up at night when I can't find a blanket for David
*Chew toy (I don't know why, but David loves to crumple one up in his hands and chew on it)
*Any type of spill picker-upper. (Soy sauce on the table? No problem!)

Yep. I can't use they for what they were designed for, but they sure are handy! Plus, if I ever run out of diapers just before pay day, I have back up, even if it IS gross!!!! (better than poo on the floor, I have to admit)

feet friday

I couldn't resist taking some pictures of David with his feet. Liam really wasn't enthralled with his feet....I think I have one, maybe two pictures of him playing with his feet. David on the other hand....well, I could get a few pictures a day if I kept the camera around, LOL. Enjoy.

First Foods, and a crazy boy

So, David has been acting like he's ready for food for awhile now and I finally picked up some rice cereal from the store and tried him with a little tonight. He loved it! He almost inhaled the first couple spoonfuls...it was like I couldn't get it to his mouth quick enough. I guess he really was ready! I had Liam take a few pictures to commemorate this big milestone in David's life! Enjoy.

This last picture is simply for fun. And maybe a laugh or two.

Growing Boys

We weighed David while at my parents house and he's 16 pounds now!!! Wowers! He is growing like crazy and it's showing. He wants to eat ALL THE TIME. I mean, he's always had a huge appetite....but it's gotten crazy lately. I'm thinking we're going to start him on rice cereal here soon and see if that helps. It's a little early, but he's really acting like he's ready for solids.
And, he found his feet about 2 weeks ago. He loves them. Whenever he's on his back, he's grabbing at them and trying to chew on them. It's hilarious. Makes diaper changes tough, though because he's either grabbing at his feet or trying to turn over onto his belly. Neither are helpful when diaper changing.

And as for Liam, it looks like he's finally gotten past the 35 pounds plateau, as he was 36 pounds on the scale at my parents.
I'm trying to structure his days a little more, with some "school" and stuff like that, and he seems to be responding to it pretty well. Calming down a little, I think. Life for him got a little crazy over the summer with getting a new brother and then me being on bedrest and everything else.
Did I mention in a previous post that Liam is completely potty trained now?!? It happened almost overnight, and I am so proud of him!

Colors Of Fall

In honor of the changing of the season, I present for your viewing pleasure, a spread of pictures from the trees around my apartment complex. Aren't the colors amazing? This is one of the reasons I have always loved autumn. I don't remember such vibrant colors on the trees from my childhood...but they sure are pretty now. A sign of climate changes, bad memory or something entirely different? (below each picture is one of my top five reasons to love autumn!)

Crispy, crunchy leaves to jump on and walk through. I love that sound!
Beautiful colors on all the trees!
Apple Season!
My birthday!

Sweater-weather!

I know, I know, this last picture is an evergreen. But Liam basically begged me to take a picture of it, and I just HAD to comply!

Zoo on my Birthday!

I wanted to go to the zoo for my birthday, and here's just a few of the photos I took during our visit! We had so much fun, it was a blast! Thanks to all who came with us, it made my day to tour the zoo with you all!

me and the lemurs
Liam loved the bronze statues, as you will soon see!
Can't open the next door until the first is closed.
Grandpa and David (looking at either aligators or turtles I think)
Hungry, hungry hippos
this spider was freaky! There was NO GLASS between her and us! Apparently, she doesn't leave her web.
Me and my Hubby
Liam was out of range, which was too bad as there's a bug head-hole just his size!
David chillin' in his stroller

this statue is at the entrance to the zoo.

Liam getting a better look at the elephant
Liam up close and personal with a gorilla

Me and the giraffe

Yep, I had fun. Can you tell? And so many of the animals came up close when I was around (I got rushed at by a HUGE crane! It's a good thing there was a fence between us or I'd have been toast!)....it felt like God had told them all that it was my birthday and to say hi to me! LOL. I didn't get to see any Tigers, which is my only animal disappointment! I can't wait to go again!
