Stitch Me Up Embroidery Hop

I was so excited when I heard that this hop was going to be all about embroidery! Embroidery is probably my favorite crafty thing to do. I love it.
I had a dozen ideas for all of the lovely patterns we were given, but sadly I was only able to get one project done in time for this hop.
Before I share my project, I want to say a big THANKYOU to Madamme Sam at SEW WE QUILT and our cheerleader for this hop, Jane from JANES FABRICS. This was so much fun!

And here is the list of the others sharing my day!

And, so now to my project! I have a coat I got last year that I really like, as far as style goes. Well, it needed some work because bits and pieces keep loosening and falling apart and also, it's plain old black. Or at least, it WAS. Take a look now:

Here's a close-up of the flower:

And, a little collage to finish up:

To be honest, I had so much trouble getting this flower onto the hood (nothing that had to do with the pattern, most my own errors and not having a transfer pen that would work on the black fabric) but I persevered and thanks to my Mom for telling me I should finish this and not give up; I worked through my frustrations and LOVE IT! I even have other plans to continue embellishing the coat!

WOW---doesn't that look pretty against the black of the coat. Really dresses it up. I would say it could not have been easy to mark it but hooray for hanging in there!

You've done a great job and that pink looks gorgeous against the black! It really is a challenge to try and transfer an embroidery design to dark fabrics. Good for you for persevering!

Jenny-What a great idea! I love practical applications & yours is perfect. I read your info and as long as you have children, your home will always be a little untidy, but relax & enjoy them while you have them as they grow up too fast. Thanks for sharing.

Getting the pattern onto black fabric? That does sound like a pain. The results are worth the trouble. Your jacket is now fabulous!

I love it. I would not have thought to add this pattern to a coat, but it looks great!

Having gone through all the Stitch Me Up Blogs available to me, I can honestly say that your coat is the most unique way to use the pattern. It certainly does make a great style statement. The coat is now so pretty. I am glad your mother gave you the boost you needed to finish.

I really like the modern feel that stitching in one color did for this design. Also thought all the extra details were a great addition. The coat looks cool.

It turned out so great, sweetie! Glad you got it done. Can't wait to see other fun stitching you'll add to it in the future. You ought to try the light box and a white marking pen I have next time you come over. Hugs.
