The "star" of the show

And that "star" would be the birthday boy, Liam, this weekend at his party! The "kid" part of the party was rather a bust, no one came.....but there was a big turn out at the "adult" part. What can I say, we adults love any excuse to get together, hang out and eat really good food......(maybe I shouldn't say that, since I made it all....what can I say, I'm a sucker for fish tacos and I don't mind tooting my own horn, LOL)

Anyway, thankfully my boy just liked being in the spot light and wasn't too disappointed that no friends came. That, and he counts his brother and cousin as friends!
Here's some more pictures from his party:

Turning 6

I have been thinking all day about what I could say about my Liam turning 6 today. My friend Pam said it when I could not figure out how to articulate it....this isn't verbatim, but close:

"6 is when kids officially leave behind the toddler years"

It's so true. He's growing up. He's a whiz at numbers and math....his imagination is full of bangs and booms and typical "boy" stuff. He likes to draw......

He's not a baby anymore, not even a toddler. Thankfully, he still likes to give hugs and kisses and be close to me. I don't know how much longer THAT will last.

So, happy birthday, big boy. I love you so much.

Project 52: Play Mobile

PlayMobil has got to be some of the coolest toys ever. Of course, I could be just a little biased since I grew up playing with it. There were/are so many cool sets....people, animals, cars, buildings, trees, tons of stuff. The only problem I have with it is that the little pieces are so easily "lost" around the house, or in the large toy bins in the boys room. So, every 6-8 weeks or so, we do a big "organization" of the boys room and manage to find almost all of the missing play mobile, and then when we're done, the boys spend quite a lot of time playing with it....gives me a much needed break after cleaning up their room, which to be honest, stresses me out more than any other room. They have so many toys, and such bothersome storage for the toys and it feels so chaotic and crazy in there and I often just want to box it all up and get rid of it! I am hoping to someday be able to incorporate a rotation solution with the toys...I think it would help a lot.

So, what are the rest of the Project 52 participants up to? Lets go find out!

Project 52: Valentines Day Yummies

Part of the fun of being a mom is making holidays special for my kids. So, on Valentines Day, we did a lot of little things.....I made toad in the hole for breakfast, using a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut the hole in the bread. We made sugar cookies and iced them pink. We made a heart shaped yarn craft over the weekend and hung it in our window.

And for lunch, this is what I gave the boys:

4 letter word = BABY

This is our friends Jake and Kim's new baby, Zane. He was born at the end of January. What with us all being pretty sick for awhile, we stayed away, but were finally able to go see him and bring his mommy lunch the other day! He is such a cutie! Here are a couple more pictures:

Project 52: sleeping darling

I've been doing a lot of Heidi posts lately.....but I can't help it, she's just so darn cute!

So, here she is, having fallen asleep on her "touchy-feely" quilt I made for the kids ages ago.

childhood dresses

Along with Lolly, my mom sent me home with a couple of dresses and a sweater that had been mine when I was little.
One of them is a beautiful red and white Christmas dress that I wore when I was 1! We did a little try on photo shoot the other day-----
This is my favorite, I love the look on her face:

And I thought this was a sweet one with Liam:

But none of them were very cooperative for a group picture:

I decided to try to get some pictures of just Heidi on the couch and that was a laugh! She would not sit still!
In the first picture, she's arching her back and in the rest, well, you can see she was having more fun playing with the dress then letting mommy snap pretty pictures!

I can't believe I wore this when I was ONE. It is a tad big on her but not much. Now, I just have to get a cute pair of tights before Valentines Day!
