I met Judy while with YWAM in Mexico.....we hit it off right away and were pretty well inseparable that first summer. We've been friends ever since, although mostly it's been a long-distance friendship. She was one of my bridesmaids when I got married....we met her then-boy friend (now husband) Jason when the two of them were on staff in Tijuana.....we all got along very well.......
And then, she and Jason moved to the opposite side of Canada and we were up in Washington and long story short, we hadn't seen each other in over 8 years.
Imagine my surprise and joy when I got an email from her saying she was going to be in Washington and wanted to see us!
Herself and her youngest were coming for her grandmother's funeral and she had a free afternoon and she wanted to spend it with us.
I was excited and just a little anxious. I never know how it's going to turn out when I see people again after such a long time. 8 years had changed alot for both of us. Would the connection we had enjoyed in Mexico still be there?
I shouldn't have worried....because it felt like it had only been a matter of days and not years since we had seen each other and I enjoyed every minute of her visit.....except feeling badly for her when she locked her keys in her rental car. If there was anything bad to say about the visit, it would be that it was too short.
I hope we don't have another 8 year wait until we see each other again. I'd like to see Jason again and meet her two older children. I'd like to have a longer time to visit, maybe get some alone time with her too.
I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to spend the afternoon with her though. It was a precious, beautiful time with a precious and beautiful friend.
